Under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit Mohsen Ayal, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Hussein Ghanem Matilj, Al-Manara University held an awareness seminar to control breast cancer on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

The symposium was opened with a speech by the university president’s representative, Prof.Dr. Hamid Ghafouri, who praised the importance of this event in promoting health awareness. The symposium’s axes then continued, covering various topics related to breast cancer, where the disease, its types, and its most prominent symptoms were defined. The methods of diagnosis were also highlighted, starting from self-examination to diagnosis using a mammogram. The symposium also included a comprehensive presentation of the types of treatments available for women with breast cancer, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, in addition to discussing the importance of psychological rehabilitation for recovering women.

At the end of the symposium, an applied workshop was held on self-examination for breast cancer, in which it was explained how to perform the examination at home. The symposium also witnessed an interactive session during which the participants’ questions were answered by specialists.
