Vice Chancellor’s Speech for Scientific Affairs
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Distinguished guests, respected colleagues, dear students, and members of the University of Manara family,
Assalamu alaikum
It is with great pride and humility that I welcome you today as the Vice Chancellor for Scientific Affairs at the University of Manara, a beacon of hope and knowledge born in the heart of Maysan in the year 2024.
Our university was established with a clear and ambitious vision: to become a center of excellence in health sciences, medical education, and scientific research—serving not only our local community but contributing to the scientific and healthcare advancement of Iraq as a whole.
University of Manara comprising five colleges: the College of Dentistry, the College of Nursing, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Health and Medical Technologies, and the College of Science. The university aspires to become a leading academic and scientific institution in the Maysan Governorate and southern Iraq. Its mission is to meet the needs of the country’s health, research, and educational sectors by preparing highly qualified national professionals. These graduates will be equipped to deliver efficient, high-quality services in the fields of dentistry, pharmacy, medical and health technologies, science, and nursing, in accordance with rigorous scientific and professional standards.
Our Mission
Our scientific mission is clear: to foster a culture of inquiry, critical thinking, and innovation. We aim to create an environment where students are not only consumers of knowledge but contributors to it—through research, experimentation, and innovation.
We are committed to:
Developing research programs that are aligned with national needs, especially in health, environmental sustainability, and technology.
Empowering our faculty through training, collaboration, and support to build a strong research community.
Engaging our students in scientific discovery from the earliest stages of their academic journey.
Our Vision for the Future
In the years ahead, we aim to establish specialized research centers, forge partnerships with national and international institutions, and contribute solutions to Iraq’s most pressing challenges—be they in public health, environmental science, or biomedical technology.
We also understand our responsibility to Maysan—a province rich in culture and history, and full of untapped potential. The University of Al-Manara is not just a place of learning; it is a partner in regional development, community health, and scientific outreach.
