Who we are

Based on the approval of the Council of Ministers in its regular session No. 35 held on September 6, 2017, Al-Manara College for Medical Sciences was granted an establishment license under official letter No. (291), dated September 7, 2017.

Pursuant to the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under its letter No. 6760 dated September 28, 2017, the college was recognized as a private academic institution possessing full legal personality and financial and administrative independence, with complete legal capacity to achieve its objectives.

Over the years, the institution has witnessed significant developmental milestones that contributed to its academic and infrastructural maturity. These included the expansion of buildings and lecture halls, the equipping of scientific laboratories with the latest advanced technologies, the growth of green spaces and sports fields, and the continuous establishment of new academic departments and student dormitories. The college also made remarkable strides in scientific research, guided by strategic plans and forward-looking visions that supported the realization of its founding goals.

These efforts culminated in a major achievement: the elevation of the college to Al-Manara University, as officially decreed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in its order No. (13478) dated June 23, 2024. This transformation marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey toward advancement and reflects its growing role in serving both our beloved governorate and the nation as a whole by supplying qualified graduates ready to contribute effectively to the labor market.

Introduction to University of Manara

  • It is a private scientific institution based in the city of Amarah / Maysan Governorate with public benefit and has a moral personality and financial and administrative independence and is represented by the dean of the college or his representative. As stated in Article (1) of the college bylaw.
  • The college aims to contribute to the quantitative and qualitative development of the medical and educational scientific movement and scientific research in various aspects of theoretical and applied knowledge to meet the requirements of sustainable human development.
  • The college is interested in promoting a culture of respect for diversity and pluralism in the society of Iraq and Maysan in particular, and the college is working to find research axes that serve the community of Maysan Governorate. The college feels that there is an urgent need to encourage students to adopt the basics of understanding, not memorization, when studying the courses they register for.
