Al-Manara College of Medical Sciences in the Times Higher Education Asian Universities Ranking summit held at Sunway University in Malaysia from April 29 to May 1, 2024. The Iraqi delegation was led by Professor Dr. Haider Abd Duhad, the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research and International Cooperation, along with representatives from the Iraqi University of Technology and both the Al-Farahidi and Al-Manarah Private Universities.

On the sidelines of the conference, Deputy Minister Dr. Haider Abd had productive meetings with representatives from prominent global universities in Asia, especially from Japan, China, and Singapore, as well as other participating countries. Discussions focused on academic and research cooperation and the possibilities of exchanging expertise and students.

Additionally, Iraqi universities have notably advanced in this year’s academic rankings, with 13 Iraqi universities making the list, led by the University of Technology (UoT), compared to just eight last year.

The participation of the Iraqi delegation at this level reflects a strong and genuine desire to push forward in internationalizing Iraqi universities and granting them an international dimension through competition in academic rankings, which include various criteria that the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is keen to implement, aiming for higher positions in the coming years.
